Elite Sport & Study

VUB provides support to recognized and promising student-athletes in individual and team sports in combining their elite sport and study. Staff of the Dpt. Elite Sport and Study strives to make clear agreements with student-athletes in order to match as good as possible their elite sport career with their studies. As the elite sports world is constantly evolving, it is important for the Dpt. Elite Sport and Study to follow up on the latest evolution. Therefore, the research group SPMB is interwoven with the Dpt. Elite Sport and Study. The research group SPMB conducts international and national research in order to constatnly improve the supervision and guidance of the student-athletes. 

Currently, the Dpt. Elite Sport and Study supports four student-athletes who are involved in the 'Topsportstudentenproject Sport Vlaanderen': Loick Luypaert (Hockey), Florent Van Aubel (Hockey), Loranne Smans (Snowboard), and Louis Croenen (Swimming). As those athletes are involved in the 'Topsportstudentenproject Sport Vlaanderen', the Dpt. Elite Sport and Study receives a financial contribution from Sport Vlaanderen in order to optimise their DC guidance.
