Top Sport and Study in the Brussels-Capital Region: STUDENT-ATHLETE CONNECT
Project supported by Brussels International (€60K) under the call "Brussels: A Young and Dynamic Region". The project is led by the dpt. Topsport & Studie of the VUB (prof. dr. Koen De Brandt, prof. dr. Paul Wylleman, and Lucas Van Ruysevelt) in collaboration with ULB.
The "STUDENT-ATHLETE CONNECT" project (Jan - Dec 2024) aims to support athletes studying in Brussels in their psychosocial and financial development by:
(1) connecting them with other athletes and the broader campus community (e.g. mentoring programme) in order that they can combine elite sport and education in a safe, supportive and healthy environment;
(2) supporting the development of financial competencies, focused on corporate social responsability (in collab. with prof. Inge Derom).
(3) to implement a monitoring and support system for student-athletes within a network of educational and sporting institutions in the Brussels-Capital Region.
