After a conflict with the judo association about her training location, Juul Franssen has peace of mind again thanks to, amongst others, her sport pyschologist Paul Wylleman:
Paul said: "Tell me." Well, I rattled through one piece and was immediately high in my heartbeat. After ten minutes he interrupted me and said: "Juul, two things: talk calmly and lower your breath frequence. You have to look, you are far too high on your shoulders." Confronting, because during my social work study I had learned and applied those interviewing techniques myself. And yet I kicked in it. In that conversation I did not want to be any different than I felt. But Paul immediately held up a mirror to me.(Judoka Juul Franssen)
Paul's solution? Franssen had to functionally value all her activities between 0 and 10, measured by the amount of emotion she wants to put into it. "With five tasks a day you cannot give a 10 out of five, then you will overflow," she says. "Okay, my training a 2; task oriented judoing and then home, that makes me calm; school a 3, at home a 5, the dentist a 1 and the hairdresser a 9, I like that, I enjoy it. That way I plan my daily routine with new tools. And that works pretty well, though I say so myself. "
