The ECO-DC project (01/01/2018 - 31/12/2019) takes a holistic ecological approach to talent development and has the mission to (1) develop a comprehensive understanding of the dual career development environments (DCDEs) across Europe, and (2) provide guidelines for the development and optimization of DCDEs supporting talented and elite athletes in their pursuit of sporting and academic excellence. ECO-DC is coordinated by the Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), and brings together a consortium of dual career researchers from 7 universities and expert practitioners from 4 elite sport organisations (NOCs, sport governing bodies) from seven EU Member States (Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, the UK). The Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Sport Vlaanderen are responsible to coordinate the project in Belgium. ECO-DC is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
