In recent years, there has been a strong focus on understanding the challenges of athletes who combine their sporting life with studies or employment. Two major European projects “Gold in Education and Elite Sport” (GEES) and “Be a Winner In elite Sport and Employment before and after athletic Retirement” (B-WISER) have recently been finalized and provided valuable outcomes for dual career research and practice.
In line with the two projects, a consortium of elite sport and research institutions from seven European countries (UK, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Spain, Sweden and Slovenia) initiated the project Ecology of Dual Careers (ECO-DC) with the support of the Erasmus+ Sport programme of the European Union.
ECO-DC provides a comprehensive understanding of dual career development environments across Europe, and developedimplementation guidelines and tools for sport federations, DC environments, DC stakeholders, DC practitioners and DC researchers enabling the development and optimisation of environments supporting talented and elite athletes in their pursuit of sporting and academic excellence.
In name of the ECO-DC consortium, we are pleased to invite you for our DUAL CAREER DAY on NOVEMBER 19 at the VRIJE UNIVERSITEIT BRUSSEL, in Belgium.
In addition to international experts’ reflections on the results of the ECO-DC project, the programme includes parallel workshops where participants learn how specific tools and instruments are used in working with DC athletes and environments. The final programme will be communicated soon.
DUAL CAREER DAY is for scientists and practitioners alike, and for people involved in dual careers in sport as well as in other performance domains.
While participation is free, registration is required. Registration runs until November 4.
